Frequently Asked Questions
1. What are the enrollment requirements?
Most classes are suitable for dogs aged six months and older. Vaccinations are required, and some classes have prerequisites. Please check the class description before registering.
2. Can my reactive dog or dog who needs extra space attend?
Our Scent Work classes are suitable for dogs who are reactive toward other dogs or need extra space. Please let us know about your dog's needs before registering so we can prepare. Other classes may not be suitable for dog-reactive dogs. Please email classes@victoriak9sportsacademy.ca before registering to discuss the best fit. None of our classes are suitable for dogs who display reactivity or aggression toward people.
3. What is the typical class schedule?
Classes run on a set schedule, with dates listed at the time of registration. Please review all dates before booking. Occasionally, dates may need to change due to extenuating circumstances.
4. What happens if I miss a class?
Classes run in sessions with set dates. Make-up classes are not available. Tuition secures a reserved working spot and is not prorated. Missed classes are non-refundable and cannot be carried forward. Our classes provide focused instruction in a supportive, team-based environment. Once a session begins, VK9SA cannot fill individual missed weeks. This policy keeps things fair for all students and ensures our instructors are compensated appropriately for their time and expertise.
5. Can my female dog attend while in season?
Female dogs in season may attend while wearing properly fitted protective panties, except during the week they are in standing heat. Please advise your instructor ahead of time so we can prepare.
6. What is your cancellation policy?
Course fees may be eligible for a refund or credit at Victoria K9 Sports Academy's discretion if you provide at least 14 days' notice before the course start date and we can fill your spot. A $30 administration fee will be deducted from any approved refund or credit. Once the course has started, refunds or credits will not be given.
7. What do I need to bring?
A preparation sheet will be emailed to you when you register. For some classes, you will also receive specialized instructions approximately one week before the course begins.
